Red Wing 1907 Review | 6″ Moc Toe Boot

The 1907 boot is the latest boot in Red Wing’s line of work boots. It was designed to provide comfort and protection for those who spend their days on their feet but also provides a style that can be worn casually. The leather uppers are made from premium leathers with a nitrile cork sole that is oil-resistant, lightweight, and slip-resistant. This Red Wing 1907 review will go into detail about what I liked about this product and how it compares to other options in its price range.

Red Wing 1907 Review

Red Wing 1907 Review

Full-grain Nubuck, Oiled, WaxedLeather:

The Redwing 1907 boot review begins with the leather quality. The full-grain nubuck, oiled and waxed leather is designed to be weatherproof for those tough working conditions. The leather uppers have been stitched and cemented to provide a high level of durability.

Oiled leather is made from the finest leather hides and is then treated with oils. Waxed leather is designed to be water-resistant or waterproof for demanding work conditions.

Goodyear Welt Construction:

Red Wing 1907 boots have a Goodyear welt construction. The Goodyear Welt is known for being durable and easy to resole, as the sole can be replaced without replacing the upper. This offers durability while reducing waste on materials.

The outsoles are designed with multi-directional lugs so that your feet will not slip or slide in any direction no matter what terrain you’re tackling. They also come equipped with leather midsoles which offer stability and flexibility at the same time.

One of my favorite things about these Red Wings was how comfortable they were right out of the box! I hiked up some steep hills just to test them out before writing this review, and they did very well!

Dark Gun Metal Eyelets:

The Red Wing 1907 boot has dark gunmetal eyelets which will help prevent corrosion and adds to the classic look of these boots.

Traction Tred Outsole:

The Traction Tred outsole is designed for all types of terrain. It has a lug depth that will fit well with the softer, more natural surfaces and also provide great stability on tougher terrains like gravel or rock. This offers durability while reducing waste on materials.

Craftmanship:

I am impressed by the craftsmanship of these boots. The quality is evident in the stitching and nails that keep everything together, particularly on the sole.

  • Sole: The synthetic sole is thick and provides great traction for walking on dirt, gravel, or mud without slipping.
  • Heel: I walk around with these boots all day long and they feel amazing! My feet never hurt after wearing them at work.
  • Fit: These shoes run about one size big so if you’re in between sizes then order down. If your sitting most of the time then ordering up is fine but it’s just not going to be as comfortable.

Design Considerations:

For some reason, people make fun of red wing 1907s because their toes stick out more from under skinny jeans while other boots might look better hidden under them; this isn’t a flaw, this is an intentional design to make it easier for people wearing them to do work.

Price:

They’re priced reasonably at $280 when comparing their other boots that cost much higher prices. But for its quality craftsmanship, durability, and the amount of long-term use you can get out of them they’re worth every penny.

What I Like in These Boots: (PROS)

  • The leather used is high quality and provides excellent durability. This is a tough, hardworking boot that will last decades with the proper care.
  • These are very durable boots, even though they’re not necessarily built for heavy-duty tasks. Their strength comes from their style–they perform well as light work or dress shoes because of their toughness and ability to withstand abuse on a daily basis (scuffs, kicks). They also don’t need much in the way of maintenance after you break them in properly…kinda like Chuck Taylors!
  • When I wear these boots around town I always get compliments on how good they look. And when it gets cold out? Forget about it – people think my feet are staying warm!
  • These boots are also surprisingly comfortable, even though they’re a bit stiff when you first get them.
  • These boots are 100% waterproof, and they’re designed to keep your feet dry regardless of the conditions.
  • I’ve had these boots for a little over a year now, so I can attest that they hold up extremely well in terms of quality. There’s no sign that there will be any issues with them anytime soon
  • But as always, it pays to buy shoes you know will last!
  • This boot will last long enough to make you forget about the price.
  • These are beautiful boots, and I get compliments on them every time I wear them!

One Thing is Key:

Take care when breaking them in before wearing all day or on an extended trip; otherwise pain may ensue. The leather needs time to stretch out so every part of the boot fits snugly–you don’t want those pesky wrinkles from rubbing against your skin all day long…it doesn’t feel good at all.”

What I Don’t Like in These Boots

Insole:

The boot comes with no insole Which I really missed. It is suggested that you use your own orthotic inserts, but a lot of people don’t have them on hand when they need boots to wear and I know this from experience so it would be really nice if red wing included an insole with the boot

Longer Break-in Period:

The 1907 boot is made of 100% leather. I have a feeling this means a longer break-in period and that it will take time to mold the shape of the shoe or boots to your foot but for now, these are stiffer than my other red wing shoes.

Price:

I know these are red wing boots so I’m not expecting them to be cheap, but they’re a little more expensive than my other shoes and it’s hard for me to justify the price difference. But this boot will last long enough to make you forget about the price.

Safety:

It is a moc toe boot. I think if you are looking for a boot for safety purposes, this will not be the best option. in this price range, I am expecting more safety features in these boots like Electric Hazard Rated safety which are absent on it.

What Do People say About The Boot?

Most customers found these boots a little harder to pass the break-in period. But most of them say that it is worth it. So I suggest you to keep patience and break them in. You will feel amazing after it is ready.

You need to change the sole maybe after a year. But for its Goodyear welt construction, you can change the sole easily.

Rough and Tough: Most customers said these boots can be really rough and tough. So it is better for you to break them in a little before wearing to the outside world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did You Have Any Trouble With the Boot Breaking in?

Yes, I do have. It took about 3-4 weeks to break in properly. After that I feel like I am walking in the air with this lovely boot. So keep patience and maintain the break-in time.

Do You Think They Are Worth the Price Tag?

Yes, of course! Actually, these boots are designed by Red Wing company from Minnesota since 1907 and they have been making really durable boots ever since then. The quality won’t disappoint people who want tough shoes but still need comfort from their footwear too. That’s what makes them expensive than most other brands sold on the Amazon marketplace.

Are These Boots a Must-have for Winter?

Mmm, I’m not sure about this one. It’s a matter of preference but these boots are perfect for any season in my opinion because they don’t really show dirt that easy and you can wear them with almost anything from jeans to dress pants.

Do They Have the Best Quality?

I would say so! Since 1907 Red Wing has been making quality products and their craftsmanship is recognized all around the world now which makes me trust their shoes more than most other brands out there on the Amazon marketplace where it’s difficult to tell if the product will last long or not after just looking at pictures. So yes, I do think they have the best quality.

Did You Find the Boot to Be Comfortable?

Yes, I did find them to be pretty comfortable. I didn’t have any problems with my feet sliding around too much or rubbing against the inside of the boot like some other people who reviewed these boots on Amazon mentioned which is a plus!

Would You Recommend This Product?

Yes, definitely. These are such great quality and they’re so affordable that it’s just hard not to buy these if you can afford them which makes me want more pairs in different colors!

Do They Offer Any Support?

For most individuals, yes but for those with really wide feet or high arches then probably not as much support as you would need although there are still many people out there that enjoy wearing red wings without any issues at all so keep in mind.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for a boot that will last long enough, then this might just be what you need!

I would highly recommend this shoe if your sole purpose is to buy something that looks good but doesn’t cost too much money because they are more expensive than my other red wing shoes; however, I think it’s worth every penny of its price tag since it lasts longer than any clothes or shoes I have ever bought before.

So I think you have the answers to all questions from my Red Wing 1907 Review. I hope this helps you in the search for your new favorite shoe!
